SkillsUSA

All that was new last week was that me and about 10-12 other students in my photography class, we spent all day Wednesday practically locked in a bright and colorful ‘happy birthday’ party room at Triple Play. It was the Fall Leadership Conference for SkillsUSA. If you don’t know what SkillsUSA is, oh boy are you missin’ out! Let’s see if I can sum it up.. it’s an organization that you’re practicing a skill or art that you are taking an elective of in high school, but it’s professional, and it prepares you for the real world and it helps you become more familiar to the working life. It helps you lose ‘stage fright’ for one thing, have better speaking and communication skills, and shows you what you’re looking at if you want to use this skill as your future career. Okay, that was pretty long. But that’s the easiest way for me to explain it.

I’m pretty excited for SkillsUSA and its competitions. At the conference, it made me feel way more comfortable around the people in my chapter, even though this is the second year I’ve been in photography class with most of them. But trust me.. ask anyone who went.. that room was a migraine waiting to happen when you first walk in the door. bright yellow, orange, and green walls. From 8:30 am to about 3:30 pm. YOU GET SICK OF IT! haha, even though my rooms have been painted way brighter than that room, I have never been stuck in the room for about 7 hours, was it? Yeah.. not fun.

Anyways, I’ve typed too much.

Toodles! (:
