I’m not one to go crazy with supplements or medicine, but there is at least one mineral supplement that i stand by 100%. Magnesium! And the best part — it is naturally derived in foods and fish so even just a slight diet change can help regulate levels without having to buy any more supplements.

It has so many health benefits, but there are studies that say at least 50% of the U.S. does not intake their suggested daily amount.

The biggest and best reasons you should make sure your intake is enough:

  • Migraines – it has great anti-inflammatory properties. After my car accident 4 years ago, in which i got a decent concussion with the migraines and nausea to match, It was one of the few things my doctor told me to take, and it’s the only one i still take. It not only helped take the pain and swelling away in my head, but my entire body actually started feeling a little better after i had been taking it for a few days.
  • Healthy blood sugar – Some studies show that people who consume more magnesium have a lower risk of type 2 diabetes.
