Surrealism.

My first idea was brainstormed between me and a friend of mine, and that was to do a reinactment of the Swiffer commercials. To have a little person on the Swiffer. But I didn’t want to do it because it’d already been done, and it was technically someone else’s idea. So then I looked around my room and thought of impossible things that could happen. I came up with some0ne sitting on the floor tearing apart a stuffed animal. But! Her/his head is the teddy bear’s and her/his head is on the teddy bear. It reminded me of this episode of iCarly where this crazy teacher puts a stuffed pig head onto a stuffed panda body.

My Inspiration: Smashing Buzz. The picture that actually had the most influence and inspiration for me to do this type of picture, was the sixth picture down, of the man’s body with clouds as his face, and the balloon with the man’s face. It’s almost the same concept except he used one human and an earthy element. I used the stuffed animal and a human. The other pictures on this site were crazy PhotoShopped in some spots, so it could definitely be surrealism inspiration for other people too.

First idea (drawing):

I didn’t really like the scissors and the stuffing around it, it kinda looked like a murder scene now that I look at it compared to my Second Sketch:

Pink pens are just awesome. Yeah, this looks better than the first one!

Pictures to get there:

Background picture:

The picture of her face that I used to move over the giraffe:

The picture of the giraffe’s face I used to move over her body:

Final Picture:

I’m happy with how it turned out, and I think this is a concept that is completely surreal and could never ever happen.

  1. Watch your white balance, other than that it looks well done.
For photo 5 I will challenge you to go a little more, swapping 2 heads while done nicely, I am not seeing as 2 weeks worth of work for you, correct me if I am wrong.

Push yourself, you can do more and grow when you are challenging yourself.

  3. This is kinda creepy. It’s a cool idea but it is kinda weird. Another thing is, is that the face for the person that is now a bear, is too big. It would be good to take some away from the top left ish area. But the face on the bear on the other hand looks very good. Overall cool pictures.

  4. I think this picture is cool. It is my favorite of yours. I also like the ones you took at the park. I think you did a good job of transferring the human face onto the bear. It looks very surreal! Although, I think you could of made the animal face on the human tiny bit smaller. Other than that, this picture looks great! Another thing though, is watch your white balance. Its a bit yellow here.

  5. These last few pictures of the girl and the stuffed animal are hilarious. Good job with Photoshop there. I think you should have messed with the light settings of your camera the pictures would have turned out better. It looked like that would have been tricky though because it looks like you have natural and electrical lighting there. But all in all great job on the photos, great job with photoshop.

  6. I like the idea behind your surrealism picture, but I think there is a couple of thing you could have done better. If you tucked the hair of your subject back behind her you could have completly covered the subjects head with the bear making it more realistic. Also, I suggest taking two different picture of the bear one for the head to put on the human then another just so the ears and horns aren’t in the photo.

  7. I like your photos they are pretty cool. and always you should keep on keeping on. other then that your photo blew my mind. I only have one suggestion the red ribbon on the cows head shouldn’t be there because when its on your head you only can see a little bit of it and its distracting to me. but that could just be me I don’t know.

  8. Not going to lie, this is sort of creepy. The idea of it that is, its just not for me. But in the actual photograph you have nice cut outs and the shadows really help. Something you need to work on though is the picture looks really yellow, so adjust the white balance and it would be a lot better. overall this is kinda weird but good job and keep it up.
